SUMMARY:Africa Film Series
DESCRIPTION:Do films have the power to break barriers\, open minds\, and transform lives? Discover the answer at the Africa Film Series\, hosted by Dr. Obidoa and Sponsored by the Africana Studies Program. \nOn February 18\, students\, faculty\, staff\, and the public are welcome to join us in Stetson 251 as we watch and discuss\n“Skin\,” a true life story of Sandra Laing\, a black child born in the 1950s to white Afrikaners\, unaware of their black ancestry. Her parents lovingly bring her up as their ‘white’ little girl. But at the age of ten\, Sandra is driven out of the society. The film follows Sandra’s thirty-year journey from rejection to acceptance\, betrayal to reconciliation\, as she struggles to define her place in a changing world – and triumphs against all odds.
