A member of the Vocal Arts faculty at the Julliard School in New York City, and a pre-eminent Baroque scholar and conductor, Gary Thor Wedow will lead a four-day workshop for Mercer University Townsend School of Music voice students in the art of Baroque Performance Practice. The workshop will also feature instrumental study students, culminating in an afternoon recital of Baroque music on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Mercer University Opera Presents “The Trial of Susan B. Anthony”

Anthony is a new opera with tremendous impact on many levels.  The famous suffragette was arrested in 1872 for attempting to vote, and the text of this opera was taken directly from her trial. Exciting performances by Amanda Russo Stante, an experienced and versatile mezzo-soprano, who is a faculty member at Susquehanna University, and Kimberly Carballo, collaborative pianist and coordinating opera coach at Indiana University's Opera and Ballet Theater and serves on the faculty in the Chamber Music and Collaborative Piano department.
