Guest composer Alan Schmitz will be honored for his 70th birthday in a concert of his solo/chamber music. Schmitz earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Mexico and Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Rutgers University. Macon native Caleb Esmond graduated from Mercer University in 2021 with a BM in Piano Performance from the studio of Dr. Ian Altman. He is currently pursuing his MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Utah State University with Dr. Cahill Smith. While at USU, Caleb received the 2022 Graduate Talent Award and has performed in masterclasses for Gabriela Montero and Steven Osborne. This alumni recital in Fickling Hall will feature works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and Ravel.

Bobby Hall has been playing the guitar for over 30 years and teaches in Macon. As a Townsend alumnus trained in classical guitar, Hall has over two decades of experience. His compositions have been performed by groups such as the Karkov Guitar Quartet from Ukraine and the Macon Guitar Quartet. He performs several genres of music, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, country, and more.
