The opening Fabian Concert of the 20-21 season will be an inspiring, celebratory evening, as we gather together to safely hear live music again– for many, the first time in six months! The program includes the soulful and dramatic piano quartet of Korngold, (the Austrian born composer who moved to Hollywood and wrote for movie soundtracks), a little known piano quartet by Finnish composer Sibelius and the popular and lovely Bagatelles by the Czech composer Dvorak. Recent Grammy winner and Fabian regular, violinist James Ehnes, cellist Edward Arron, and pianist Andrew Armstrong are back in Macon to play with violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti for this healing and captivating night of inspiring music.
Adjusting to the new normal of 2020, the Fabian Concert Series will continue to bring great chamber music, collaboration, education, and outreach to Mercer and Macon. This year, we will explore the diversity and expressiveness of music with some of the world’s greatest musicians and bring healing and thoughtfulness during this unprecedented time.We officially begin our 13th Anniversary Season on September 29th at the Grand Opera House in downtown Macon, where we will have addressed all our concerns for health and safety. Tickets are $15 per person/free with Mercer orany valid student ID. Single tickets will be available prior to each performance. Call (478) 301-5470 to find out more.
