The primary goal of the Discovering Dyslexia Community Education Series is to educate Middle Georgia families about dyslexia while also providing a supportive platform for caregivers to ask questions and get answers. Each session will feature an expert guest who will be available to address inquiries on topics such as: the diagnostic process, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, the Orton-Gillingham Approach, mental health, and more.

Allison Hawkins is an occupational therapist with 17 years of experience. She currently works at the Georgia Academy for the Blind, but her professional journey also includes valuable experience in the outpatient pediatric department at Atrium Health Navicent, where she specializes in assisting children facing sensory processing challenges and learning differences.

Throughout her career, Allison has consistently demonstrated a fervent commitment to comprehensively assessing children and understanding the interplay between sensory processing, learning, and skill development
