Mercer University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives is hosting a virtual event on March 31, 2021, 6:30 p.m-8:30 p.m. featuring the first African American Mayor of Montgomery, AL, Mayor Steven L. Reed and his wife, Tamika Reed, Esq., an attorney and the first female Investment Banker in the state of Alabama.
Our event is entitled, “The Rise of the New Montgomery: Politics, Race, and Economics.” Along with March being Women’s History Month, it also marks the 56th anniversary of Bloody Sunday as well as recognition of the foot soldiers who participated in the third attempt to march from Selma, AL to Montgomery, AL. Featuring Mayor Reed and First Lady Reed during this time could not be more timely.
