The memorable 17th season of the Fabian Concert Series brings the best of artists from around the globe in a fascinating look at chamber music, this performance featuring the world-renowned Ehnes Quartet: James Ehnes (violin), Che-Yen Chen (viola), Edward Arron (cello), and Mercer’s director of the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, Amy Schwartz Moretti (violin).

The MMSO welcomes Filippo Ciabatti, winner of the 2020 American Prize in Conducting, in a program featuring one of the best known classical symphonies, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. Then the symphony joins members of the cast of Theatre Macon’s 2022 production of The Color Purple back to the stage, in a reprise of hits from the musical with a joyous score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel, African music, and blues.

The Brass Band and Wind Ensemble take the stage to perform major works in the repertoire. The Brass Band, the newest ensemble in the band area, will open the evening. The Wind Ensemble will perform James Barnes' Third Symphony, nicknamed "The Tragic," which explores the depths of despair then explodes with optimism and joy.
