Dorothy Roberts, the 14th Penn Integrates Knowledge Professor and George A. Weiss University Professor of Law and Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, with give a Women's History Month lecture on “Policing Black Women: The Urgency of Reproductive Justice.” The event will take place 6-8 p.m. March 21. The final Third Thursday Reading Series event of the season will feature a tribute to Mercer Alumnus David Bottoms (Class of 1971), who served as the Poet Laureate of Georgia from 2002 to 2012. The evening will begin with a reading by the winners of the David Bottoms Prize for Poetry, which will be awarded to the Mercer University undergraduate students whose poems best exemplify Bottoms’ belief that poetry is “a search for consequence.”
