Tuition Exchange is a scholarship program that Mercer participates in with nearly 700 institutions around the U.S. The program is for the dependents of eligible full-time employees who are seeking their first undergraduate degree at a participating institution. Pilgrimage to Penfield in an integral part of the Mercer freshman experience. Penfield, which is located in rural Greene County, was the home of Mercer from 1833-1871. Since the early 1900's, Mercer students have been making the 90-mile trip from Macon to Penfield to celebrate the founding of Mercer. The youth engagement committee with MerServe will be holding a Sports Equipment Drive for school children in the Macon-Bibb community. This event is planned for the week of November 29th - December 3rd. MerServe encourages the student body along with faculty and staff to gather any sports equipment, athletic clothing, etc. over Thanksgiving break. This holiday tradition, hosted by the Student Government Association, annually draws more than 500 students as well as faculty, staff and their families to Willingham Auditorium. The Mercer Singers lead the audience in carols, the University Minister offers a Christmas meditation, and a faculty member entertains the audience with a traditional Christmas reading.
