
2025 Byington Lecture
The 2025 Laurie Byington Lecture Series speaker John Blake will give his lecture, "The Power of a Hopeless Cause," on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Presidents Dining Room. Blake is an award-winning author and senior writer at CNN.com. His memoir is "More Than I Imagined: What a Black Man Discovered About the White Mother He Never Knew."

Join us for the reception to celebrate the opening of the Mercer student-curated exhibit at Macon's Tubman Museum. Freedom Seekers: Runaway Slave Advertisements in the Macon Telegraph, 1826-1865 Between 1826 and 1865, nearly every issue of the Macon Telegraph included advertisements for enslaved people: runaways, auctions, and detainees.
