Guest Artist Composition Recital: Alan Schmitz, Composer

Guest composer Alan Schmitz will be honored for his 70th birthday in a concert of his solo/chamber music. Schmitz earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Mexico and Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Rutgers University. Recordings of his music are available on PARMA Records' Ravello Label.

Collaborative pianist Kyung-A Yoo continues to explore lesser known but compelling American piano chamber works accompanied by soprano Martha Malone, cellist Leo Singer, flautist Kelly Via, and violinist River Sawchyn. The program "Mementos" consists of works composed by Bolcom, Previn, Ives, and Piston.
