The Academy of Classical Education Senior High Band and the Mercer University Wind Ensemble will join forces to present a celebratory fall concert. We toast the opening of the MMSO season and Macon’s 200th birthday with a thrilling opening led by native son Roderick Cox. October 19-22 Mercer Opera Presents The Trial of Goldilocks Fickling Hall, 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday The whole family will have fun with this charming, witty show in which Goldilocks is prosecuted for breaking and entering the home of the Three Bears! In the courtroom, we watch as Goldilocks and the Bears enact the traditional tale. Next, the prosecutor and the defense attorney present their hilarious versions of the same events. Our jury of animals makes some surprising decisions…

Monty Cole joins forces with Kyung-A Yoo (piano), Marcus Reddick (marimba), David Johnson (violin), and Brittan Braddock (clarinet) in a concert of 20th Century works for clarinet and saxophone. Free and open to the public

A choral concert celebrating the bicentennial of the city of Macon featuring music from 1823 to present including music from Macon composers and artists.

Recitals are held in the Bell House Jennings Salon, 315 College St., at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.  Doors open 30 minutes beforehand.

The Mercer University Wind Ensemble will present an evening of chamber wind music featuring voice: solo and choral. Sheila Dunn, Richard Koswoski, and Timothy McReynolds will be guest soloists. The Choral Society of Middle Georgia will be featured in a performance of Johannes Brahms’ Begräbnisgesang.

Solo, duo, and ensemble pieces performed by students of conductor Calista Anne Koch, also featuring the Middle Georgia Harp Ensemble.
