Guest composer Alan Schmitz will be honored for his 70th birthday in a concert of his solo/chamber music. Schmitz earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Mexico and Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Rutgers University. Recordings of his music are available on PARMA Records' Ravello Label.

Saxophonist Matthew Patnode is associate professor of saxophone and jazz studies at North Dakota State University in Fargo.
