"Setting: Installation as Allegory" traces the development of Mary O'Malley's current research, informed by Mercer-supported residencies in Rome, China, and Ireland. O'Malley explores installation as both a narrative and symbolic form drawing on international fieldwork, European and Middle Georgia ceramic history, mythology, and social narratives. Through material experimentation and site-responsive work, she considers how objects and space can function allegorically; inviting viewers to reflect on systems, scale, and the relationship between human activity and the natural world.
