“The Siege of Jadotville is a 2016 historical drama film directed by Richie Smyth and written by Kevin Brodbin. The movie is based on the true story of the battle for Jadotville, which was one of the most significant military events in Ireland’s history, yet relatively unknown. A powerful and heart-wrenching movie that tells the story of an epic battle that had long been forgotten. In 1961, a company of 157 Irish UN peacekeeping soldiers led by Commandant Pat Quinlan (played by Jamie Dornan) were sent to protect the small Congo town of Jadotville, during the rise a civil unrest in the country. The mission was seen as a routine deployment, but it soon turned into a high-stakes battle for survival when a coalition of French and Belgian mercenary soldiers attacked them.” Yidio
