First Generation Celebration

The Dr. Joseph M. Hendricks Center for Campus Initiatives and Federal TRIO Programs at Mercer University will affirm and celebrate our first-generation (FG) students by participating in a national initiative, the First-Generation College Celebration. Our goal is to highlight the vibrant and extensive community of first-generation Mercerians, normalize the first-generation experience, and celebrate the pride, accomplishments, and perspectives that come with this identity.

As part of this celebration, Student Support Services, ONES, and the Educational Opportunity Center will co-host the following activities:
• Campus-Wide Poster Campaign: Beginning the week leading up to the celebration, posters featuring first-generation Mercerians will be displayed throughout campus.
• First-Generation Tabling Celebration: On November 11, from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., we will celebrate in front of Stetson Hall with posters highlighting FG Mercerians, giveaways, desserts, and fun activities.
• First Generation Panel Discussion: On November 12, 2026, Willet Science Building 6:00-7:00pm (light refreshments served).
