The Turquoise Quartet, silver medalists at the 2023 Saint Paul String Quartet Competition, will present a recital on Monday, May 8 at 7:00 pm in the McCorkle Music Building’s Neva Langley Fickling Hall. Díana Thompson-Brewer, soprano Christopher Cooley, piano Lyric coloratura soprano, Díana Thompson-Brewer returns to the Mercer University School of Music to perform at first sight, a song cycle that chronicles the life of a woman through the lens of what it means to love a black man in America. The song cycle will be paired with Robert Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben. Thompson-Brewer is joined by pianist Christopher Cooley, composer of at first sight.

A nationally recognized advocate and leader for the advancement of music education, Scott Sheehan is the Director of Bands and Music Department Chairperson at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in Pennsylvania. Alumni Guest Artist Recital: Bobby Hall, Guitar

Bobby Hall has been playing the guitar for over 30 years and teaches in Macon. As a Townsend alumnus trained in classical guitar, Hall has over two decades of experience. His compositions have been performed by groups such as the Karkov Guitar Quartet from Ukraine and the Macon Guitar Quartet. He performs several genres of music, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, country, and more.
