This event is free and open to the public

After three days of intense solo and chamber study with Robert McDuffie Center for Strings faculty, eight high school seniors have a chance to showcase their talents in this free afternoon concert. Help celebrate Labor Day in a concert that features Center faculty and students. Fickling Hall seating is first-come, first served.

Díana Thompson-Brewer, soprano Christopher Cooley, piano Lyric coloratura soprano, Díana Thompson-Brewer returns to the Mercer University School of Music to perform at first sight, a song cycle that chronicles the life of a woman through the lens of what it means to love a black man in America. The song cycle will be paired with Robert Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben. Thompson-Brewer is joined by pianist Christopher Cooley, composer of at first sight.
